Kiriman Bunga Mas & Perak Dari Kesultanan Trengganu – 1869

The Raja Of Tringano Sends:

“One gold and one silver tree, tribute to be conveyed to Bangkok, for presentation to His Most Gracious Majesty the King, as a taken from me, for the future, in accordance with a long established custom, that I shall never meditate separation, but shall always cling to Siam as my protector. If in poverty, or in embarrasment, I bind my mind to seek largely His Majesty’s clemency. Further, I beg to inform His Most Gracious Majesty, that formerly, in compliance with His Magesty’s order,

His Majesty's favor presented to me, as follows :

- 3 Coats after the Malay fashion.
- 4 Sarongs,
- 10 Koyans of rice,
- 10 Koyans of salt.

To Rayamudah (Yang Dipertuan Raja Muda Tengku Ahmad Yang Dipertuan Raja Muda Tengku Mahmud)

- 1 Coat after the Malay fashion,
- 1 Piece of silk,
- 3 Sarongs.
- 1 Piece of Silk.

To Tonkuno (Baginda Omar Sultan Ahmad Shah I )
- 1 Coat after the Malay fashion,
- 3 Sarongs,
- 1 Piece of silk.

These favors I, Rayamudah and Tonkuno having paid our homage to your Most Gracious Majesty, received with much pleasure and gratitude.

Further, I send with the gold and silver tree, for presentation to Your Most Gracious Majesty, in accordance with long standing usage:

- 2 Sarongs, woven gold thread,
- 4 Catties of Pimsen Camphor,
- 4 Pieces of white flowered čloth,
- 24 Pieces of white cloth of 50 cubits each,
- 4 Pieces of Chepo cloth,
- 200 Bundles of Pakhu Rattan, instead of Sago.
- 400 Coils of stone Rattan.
- 200 Bundles of Pakhu Rattan, as usual.
- 100 Large T'oi leaf mats.
- 400 Clubs.
- 400 Pearl shells.

I hereby bind my mind to Your Most Gracious Majesty, entreating largely Your Majesty's clemency and favor.

Ulasan

Sebelum ini ada sejarahwan di Malaysia menyatakan Baginda Omar menghentikan tradisi penghantaran Bunga Mas & Perak ke Bangkok. Namun penemuan rekod ini membuktikan sebaliknya, Sultan-Sultan Terengganu masih meneruskan tradisi penghantarannya di era pemerintahan Baginda Omar. Hubungan rapat terjalin dengan British di Singapura serta campurtangan dalam Perang Saudara di Pahang menimbulkan sedikit ketegangan dengan Siam.

1869, Kiriman Bunga Mas & Pérak dari Kesultanan Terengganu ini berlaku pada tahun pertama pemerintahan Raja Chulalongkorn, Rama V Dinasti Chakri Siam (1868 - 1910).
