Deskripsi :

Kapten Alexander Hamilton berbangsa Scottish dari East India Company (EIC) ketika singgah dan bertemu dengan Sultan Abdul Jalil IV Ri’ayat Shah Zillu’llah fi al-’Alam Bendahara Sri Maharaja Tun Habib Abdul Majid melaporkan ada dua kali cubaan Bugis berkuasa di Trangano (Terengganu) pada tahun 1719 dan 1720.

1719 – 1721 merupakan tempoh masa yang agak kabur kerana tidak pasti siapakah Penguasa/Pembesar ataupun wakil kerajaan dari Kesultanan Johore di Trangano. Sultan Abdul Jalil Riayat Syah (1719 -1721) menjadikan Trangano sebagai lokasi bermastautin seketika dengan berstatus sebagai “pelarian politik” setelah di tewaskan oleh Raja Kecik dari Siak yang berjaya menuntut haknya selaku zuriat kepada Sultan Mahmud Syah II Sultan Ibrahim Syah (1675–1699) ataupun Sultan Mahmud Mangkat Di Julang di Kota Tinggi pada tahun 1699. Raja Kecik di lantik sebagai Sultan Johore bergelar Sultan Abdul Jalil Rahmat Shah (1718-1722).

'While my ship lay in the road, the Bougies came with a fleet of two hundred sail praws, defigning to plunder the town of Trangano ; but they were afraid to pass to near our Guns as they must have been neceffitated to do before they could get into the River. When they came to a Place about, 5 Leagues off, they sent a Praw to my Ship, and the Officer told me, that he had a Commiffion to profer and pay me 3000 Spanish Dollars, if I would let them pass quietly into the River.

I ordered him away, and threatened, that, if they came, they should feel the Force of my Powder and Shot. When I came at shore, the King ask me if I would protect him. I told him I would with all the Force I had. He wept, as if he had been diffident, and defired that I would take him on board of my Ship, and carry him Whitherever I went, for his Life was burdenfom to him, and he could trust none of his own People. I perfwaded him that I was sincere in my Resolution to protect him, and that it would look too mean to run away from his Kingdom while there was a Poffibility to regain it”.

Dilaporkan ketika pasukan Bugis melakukan cubaan menakluki Trangano, terdapat seorang pembesar begelar Dattabandaar (Datuk Bandar) namun tidak jelas dan tiada informasi lengkap siapakah individu ini.

Kisah lanjut peristiwa ini boleh di baca dari lampiran print screen ke-2 yang di sertakan.

Berdasarkan rujukan silang, pernah berlaku pertelingkahan awal di antara Kesultanan Johore Lama dengan pasukan Bugis di Selangor pada tahun 1717 namun kemenangan berpihak kepada pihak Bugis dengan di bantu pasukan (Bugis) dari Linggi.

Sejarah awal di Trangano sebelum tertubuhnya Kesultanan Terengganu oleh Sultan Zainal Abidin I agak kabur dan tidak banyak rujukan ataupun bahan bacaan boleh di temui. Semoga ada yang boleh berkongsi informasi lebih tepat ataupun maklumat lanjut berkaitan siri serangan Bugis ke atas Sultan Abdul Jalil IV Ri’ayat Shah.
